B.Sc. / M.Sc.Thesis / field assistant: Breeding biology of shrub nesting species in the treeline ecotone of the Western Italian AlpsKategorie: Stellenbörseneinträge
Field work will be part of an ongoing project which focuses on bird communities above the treeline (ecotone) in the Western Italian Alps. The aim of the research is to understand the mechanisms underpinning the distribution of bird populations along altitudinal gradients via the combination of reproductive success measurements and fine-scale species-habitat associations, thereby concentrating on shrub nesting species such as Dunnock, Linnet and Lesser Whitethroat.
•nest searching and monitoring
•use of camera traps
Students should be enthusiastic and passionate about ecology. A good physical condition is a must, because working days are long and may involve a lot of hiking. You should be able to work independently as well as in a team. Experience in bird monitoring/handling is desirable but not essential.
