Invitation & programme 156th DO-G Annual Convention in Augsburg, Sept. 20-24, 2023

We cordially invite you to the 156th Annual Meeting of the German Ornithologists' Society which will be held from Wednesday, 20 September (arrival day and welcome evening) to Sunday, 24 September (excursions) 2023 at the University of Augsburg in southern Bavaria. The organisers and co-hosts are the University of Augsburg, the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU), the Bavarian Society for the Protection of Birds (LBV), the Bavarian Ornithological Society and the Natural Science Society of Swabia.

The main topics will be Alpine ornithology, Distribution of birds in a changing climate and landscape and Birds of the urban areas. In addition, several symposia are in preparation.

The following programme structure is envisaged:

• Wednesday, 20 September: arrival and informal welcome evening

• Thursday, 21 September: opening, scientific programme and poster evening

• Friday, 22 September: scientific programme, general meeting and evening lecture

• Saturday, 23 September: scientific programme and social evening

• Sunday, 24 September: excursions

Interested parties who would like to organise a symposium with up to six lectures of 15 minutes each (+ 5 minutes of discussion) are kindly requested to contact the Secretary General of the DO-G at short notice (contact see below).

We recommend booking your accommodation in good time! Please note that most hotels in Augsburg may be fully booked at the time of the conference because of the “Oktoberfest” in Munich. The invitation with the preliminary conference programme and the registration documents will be sent to all DO-G members around May/June.

Registration for attendance of the conference will be possible here via these pages or by post after the programme has been published. Early bird registration will be possible by 31 July 2023. After that, a late booking surcharge will be charged, and cancellations of the registration will be subject to fees.

The DO-G General Assembly will take place on Friday, 22 September 2023 in the afternoon. The invitation with further details will be issued separately.
