Red Lists

Red Lists reflect the level of threat and conservation status of the breeding bird life of a defined region. They represent therefore an important instrument for nature and species protection. Guidelines and questions on methodology can be found on the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) website (general information only in English).

The German Red List of birds in Germany is published online on the NABU website (in German only). The printed list can also be ordered from:

Deutscher Rat für Vogelschutz (DRV) e.V.
c/o Landesbund für Vogelschutz in Bayern
Eisvogelweg 1
91161 Hilpoltstein
web: www.drv-web.de/start_d.htm

Red Lists at federal state level are also published and can be obtained from the state ornithological stations.

The threat to individual bird species worldwide can be found on the BirdLife International or IUCN websites.
