The German Ornithological Society (DOG) thrives on the commitment of its members and supporters. With your donation, you help strengthen ornithological research in Germany and beyond.

Particular support is provided for early-career scientists—for example through scholarships, research grants, or travel subsidies for conferences. In this way, you help young ornithologists develop their own projects and explore new avenues in bird research.

In addition to supporting early-career researchers, donations can also be used for specific purposes—for example for particular research topics, publications, or individual projects of the Society.

Every donation, large or small, supports our work for birds, science, and society. Testamentary bequests (estates) can also be a valuable legacy for the future of ornithology.

Support us

The work of the DOG serves the promotion of charitable purposes within the meaning of Sections 51 et seq. of the German Fiscal Code (German law). Therefore, membership fees and donations are tax-deductible and can be transferred to the association’s bank account.

What are donations used for?

Your donation primarily supports ornithological research and the promotion of young scientists, for example through scholarships and project grants.

Can I make a restricted donation?

Yes. In addition to general research funding, donations can also be earmarked for specific topics, projects, or areas.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Yes. As a non-profit association, DOG is authorized to issue donation receipts, so your support can be claimed for tax purposes.

Can I also donate in my will?

Yes. Testamentary gifts (bequests) are a valuable way to support ornithology beyond one’s own lifetime and leave a lasting legacy.
