Joachim Seitz

In recognition of his services as Treasurer of the DO-G: With foresight, he structured the finances from 2005 to 2014, safeguarded the assets during times of crisis, and thus laid the foundations for the sustainable promotion of research and young talent.

Citation 

Joachim Seitz was the Treasurer of our society from 2005 to 2014. During his term of office, despite the financial crisis and low-interest policy, he succeeded not only in preserving the assets of the DO-G and guiding them safely through the turbulence, but even in increasing them. In doing so, he restructured the finances of the DO-G and prepared them for the years ahead. We thank him very much for this great achievement. Thanks to his meticulous and forward-looking stewardship, the DO-G is financially in “safe waters.” Only in this way were and are we able, despite the turbulence on global financial markets, to continue providing financial support for conference travel by early-career scientists and for a wide range of research projects.
