Specialist Group
Goose Ecology

Aims of the specialist group

The Specialist Group "Goose Ecology" was founded in 1994 at the DO-G conference in Wilhelmshaven. Today the group deals with all questions relating to the ecology, behaviour and conservation of geese, swans and sometimes also ducks. In addition to goose researchers and enthusiasts from the German-speaking countries, the group also includes Dutch colleagues and regularly welcomes guests from other European countries.

Main topics of the specialist group

In addition to exchanging information on the status and results of German studies with and on waterbirds, the international research of the members is regularly the focus of interest.

News

More than 50 goose researchers and bird enthusiasts met from 6 to 8 February for the 20th meeting of the DOG and DDA Specialist Group Goose Ecology at the Bildungszentrum Ostfriesland in Potshausen.

Meetings and events

The group meets regularly every 1.5–2 years to exchange research results. These meetings are organised jointly with the Dachverband Deutscher Avifaunisten (DDA) and the Institute for Wetlands and Waterbird Research (IWWR).

Participation

Anyone can take part. The meetings of the specialist group are announced on the DOG website and in other specialist publications. If you are interested, please send us a message or contact one of the spokespersons of the specialist group. We welcome new members and ideas.
